In 1961, candy merchant Printzell in Hässleholm, Sweden came up with the idea of taking the delicious filling inside hard candies and putting it in plastic bags. This sinfully delicious treat was Nöt-Crème, which was filled into 18-gram bags. Printzell justified this peculiar idea by saying, “It’s the tastiest thing you want!” And who can argue with such an argument? However, the surrounding people were skeptical. Only one wholesaler in Gothenburg showed mercy and bought a few boxes.

One day, his phone rang. A lady explained that long queues of school children were lining up outside her kiosk to buy Nöt-Crème. She wanted to order more! It soon became clear that there were others who thought that candy filling in a bag was a good idea.

Even today, Nöt-Crème is produced in the same way, in the same factory in Hässleholm, Skåne.
